Every September we set aside a whole month to celebrate friendship in all its forms — childhood bests, college sisters, work wives, and the neighbor who waters your plants. Pick a few favorites and make some joy.
1. Write the letter. Handwrite a note to the friend who changed your life and tell her exactly how.
2. Host a friendship dinner. Cook one big pot of something and invite women from different corners of your life.
3. Submit your story. Tell us about a friendship that shaped you — we feature favorites all month.
4. Reconnect with one. Text the friend you’ve been “meaning to call” and set the date today.
5. Serve side by side. Volunteer together at a literacy program — friendship grows fastest shoulder to shoulder.
6. Make the photo wall. Print the candids and cover a hallway in proof of your people.
7. Start a circle tradition. First-Saturday coffee, sunset walks, annual cabin weekend — begin it now.
8. Thank a mentor. The woman who opened a door for you deserves to hear it opened something in you, too.
9. Welcome someone new. Invite the new neighbor, coworker or transfer student into the fold.
10. Say it out loud. At dinner, at chapter, on the phone: “I’m grateful for you.” Simple. Everything.
“Friendship isn’t found, it’s built — one kept promise, one shared meal, one brave conversation at a time.”
